$object_summary = 'This stone is part of the wall that protected the city of Jerusalem in the first century. In 66 CE, the Roman army breached the wall and destroyed Jerusalem and the second Temple. The Jews were exiled from the city and were forced to devise an alternative form of worship, based on prayer in the synagogue and the study of the sacred texts. This new form of worship became the mainstay of Judaism thereafter.
Currently on view in the Permanent Exhibition.
