1995-96 '; $object_summary = 'This rug is an early example of those produced at the Bezalel School in Jerusalem. The Hebrew monograms \'Yerushalem\' and \'Eretz Hatzvi\' (literally \'the land of the deer,\' that is, \'the beautiful country\') alternate along the borders. The Hebrew signature \'Bezalel Yerushalem\' inscribed within a cartouche is knotted in the interlaced ornamental lettering characteristic of works from 1910-1915 and influenced both by the Islamic arabesque and European Art Nouveau typography.
