1988-80 ' ; $object_summary = 'Avigdor Arikha is an exceedingly accomplished artist, curator, and writer whose paintings and drawings have been exhibited internationally for 50 years, including simultaneous retrospectives at the Tel Aviv Museum and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Born in 1929 in Eastern Europe to a German speaking Jewish family, he endured life in Nazi concentration camps, from which he was saved thanks to his drawings. He emigrated to Israel where he attended the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem.'; ?>
