$object_summary = 'Helene Aylon\'s The Liberation of G-d incorporates Hebrew Bibles overlaid with translucent paper on which Aylon highlighted the passages related to gender roles. Raised an Orthodox Jew, Aylon found that only through her art could she articulate her critique of patriarchy in the Jewish tradition. The spirit of Aylon\'s installation derives from the age-old rabbinic tradition of midrash: rereading, questioning, and reinterpreting the Bible, thereby ensuring its relevance to contemporary life.
