International and local curators, including contributors to the exhibition catalogue, discuss the unconventional and nonconformist approaches to programming at their various institutions in a half-day symposium. Presented in collaboration with the Program in Museum Studies, New York University.

2:15 pm: Presentation by Vasif Kortun (Director of Research and Programs, SALT Istanbul)

3 pm:      Panel Discussion with Peter Eleey (Associate Director of Exhibitions and Programs, MoMA PS1), Massimiliano Gioni (Artistic Director, New Museum), Jessica Morgan (Director, Dia Art Foundation), Nancy Spector (Deputy Director and Jennifer and David Stockman Chief Curator, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum). Moderated by Bruce Altshuler (Director, Program in Museum Studies, New York University)

4 pm:      Presentation by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev (Director, Castello di Rivoli)

4:45 pm: Panel Discussion with Thelma Golden (Director and Chief Curator, The Studio Museum in Harlem), Kathy Halbreich (Associate Director, The Museum of Modern Art), Ruba Katrib (Curator, SculptureCenter), Scott Rothkopf (Deputy Director for Programs and Nancy and Steve Crown Family Chief Curator, Whitney Museum of American Art). Moderated by Jens Hoffmann

5:30 pm: Presentation by Adriano Pedrosa (Artistic Director, São Paulo Museum of Art)

General Admission Tickets

General Admission tickets are sold only at the Museum and valid for the day of visitation.

Program and Event Tickets

Order by phone at 212.423.3337 on Monday through Thursday, 10 am – 5 pm; and Friday, 10 am – 3 pm. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

If the program is sold out, there will be a message on the box office line.

In Person

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Museum's admission desk during regular Museum hours, excluding Saturdays.

Ticket Policies

  • If your ticket was emailed to you, present the ticket on your mobile device or print-out of your ticket.
  • If you selected “will call,” tickets will be waiting for you at our front desk will call station.
  • Ticket purchase for events at the Museum includes admission to the galleries on the day of the program.
  • Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Please note that seating is limited; we recommend purchasing tickets in advance.
  • Ticket holders are encouraged to arrive promptly, as seating is not guaranteed once a program has begun.
  • Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.
